Meet Amy Martin
A passionate student leader and engaged community member
My name is Amy Martin and I am a sophomore in the Elliott School of International Affairs where I am an IA major with a concentration in Africa Studies and a minor in Sustainability.
When I'm not working on student issues in the SA student life committee and diversity and inclusion assembly, I am involved in other community spaces that contribute to my student experience at GW. As a member of the GW Pitches and GW Dance Marathon, I have celebrated the arts and philanthropy as a means of connecting students. I have also found a home and community in the Pi Beta Phi sorority.
Both through my own experiences and through the stories peers have shared with me, you all have given me insight and compassion towards the many challenges students face on GW Campus, learning along the way how student government can support change and progress. As long as there is dialogue on campus, I will never stop listening to you and will continue to translate your concerns into actionable items we can work towards as a community.

In my time within the SA, I have taken on and seen through projects such as People for Periods and Hungry Harvest. I have also fought for legislation condemning university spending, and worked to promote student voices through the use of referendums on hotly debated topics such as the Colonials moniker. I have worked on policy reports regarding issues of affordability, such as the report on Iclickers, and have attended listening sessions and community events in her capacity as a member of DIA.

I will continue to take the time to listen, to work hard and learn from successes and failures. I know what a well run Senate can accomplish and I am willing to put in my all to see improvement for the students of GW.
